1Finity announces commercial deployment of Open RAN 5G radios in Rakuten Mobile network in Japan

July 13, 2026 - 1Finity, a Fujitsu company and leading global network solutions provider, today announced that Rakuten Mobile has deployed 1Finity compact radios in their fully virtualized commercial nationwide network to support ongoing strategic 5G Sub6 (3.7GHz) network expansion. The Open RAN-compliant, energy-efficient radios are delivering local coverage densification for Rakuten Mobile subscribers across Japan. This deployment, which was completed in May 2026, is based on the rollout plan announced by Rakuten Mobile and Fujitsu in March 2025.

1Finity’s extensive portfolio of 5G radio units (RUs) are designed for outstanding performance, high reliability and energy efficiency. The 1Finity O-RAN-compliant 44R21 RU delivers high power in a compact and lightweight form factor, which helps reduce installation space and lower lease costs. 

Building on a proven track record of multivendor interoperability, the 1Finity 44R21 RU has been seamlessly integrated with both Rakuten Symphony’s vCU/DU and Rakuten Mobile’s network management system, empowering more efficient, seamless multivendor management.
